Rat Rescue :: About CavyRescue

About Us

CavyRescue is run by Jason and Stella Hulott. The aim of the site is to educate individuals and organisations on small animal healthcare and welfare and we regularly run successful campaigns to this effect.

Originally set up to rescue guinea pigs, rabbit and hamsters etc, we found that there were few other rescues who took in rats.While we retained the name CavyRescue (‘cavy’ is a posh word for guinea pig!) as we were well known, you may also hear of us called Recycle a Rodent.

We are based in Kent and both work full time to help pay for the costs associated with running the Rescue - we are juggling our two 'jobs' successfully at the moment, although get very little sleep!

The basic costs of caring for our permanent residents averages at around £200 a month, but that is without vet bills. Our annual vet bill averages out at around £15,000 a year and these costs are all paid for by ourselves and from donations, so every donation, however small, is very much appreciated.

ANIMAL HEALTHCARE

Everything within these pages is written from our and others experience, but we are not trained vets - if you are ever in doubt about an aspect of your pet's health, then consult the experts - ie your vet.

PERMANENT RESIDENTS..LOVED AND LOST

Some of the ratties that come in to us cannot be rehomed due to health or temperament issues. Instead, they live out their lives here with us, spoilt rotten and forever loved.

This short video, made by Lauren who rehomed some ladies from us, is in memory of all those that we have loved..
