The money raised will really make a difference to us. For example, it will pay for one rat to be x-rayed; or for 10 bales of bedding; or for 3 giant sacks of guinea pig food! A big thank you to Hannah and Megan again! 8TH OCTOBER - ANNA AND NEIL RAISE £833 Kent couple, Neil and Anna Carroll, from Tonbridge, Kent swam a whopping 100 lengths in 100 minutes, raising £833 for the charity! For the couple, who regularly foster small furries and do boot fairs for various animal charities, this is their hardest fund raising effort yet! After their swimathon they enjoyed a huge (vegetarian!) fry up and then went back to Bed! Well done and a big thank you to Anna and Neil! 14TH OCTOBER - CAVYRESCUE BOOK SALE RAISED £99.70 A big thank you to everytone who helped out on the day and everyone who came along! STANHOPE VETS AND VICKY HALLS ‘CAT CHAT’ EVENING - £130 raised! On September 12, cat behaviour counsellor and author Vicky Halls gave a talk and had a Q & A section on a wide range of cat behavioural issues; her work as a cat behaviouralist; and general cat healthcare at Strood Library hall, Kent. Organised by our vets, the Stanhope Veterinary Centre in Strood, the event a follow up to Vicky's hugely successful previous 'Cat Chat' evening organised also by Stanhope Veterinary Surgery in June this year and which raised £38 for the charity. The evening was great fun and very relaxed and we all came away with tons more knowledge about our feline friends! The event also raised a whopping £130 for the charity!! A big thank you to Vicky Halls and to the Stanhope Team – Andrea, Hilde, Gill, Coral, Tracey and Emma-Jane! LORD WHISKY BOOT AND AUTUMN FAYRE – we raised £34.60! We had a fund raising stall on Saturday 9th September at Park House, selling lots of brand new donated goods such as pet foods as well as books, bric-a-brac etc. We raised £34.60 – enough to pay for an x-ray for little Barney rat who came in as a rescue rats last week! Thanks to everyone who attended! DOGS TRUST FUN DAY - we raised £61.05! On 28th August we had a stall at the Dogs' Trust Fun Day in Chestfield. Nr. Whitstable, Kent. This was originally planned for 13th August but torrential rain postponed it! We set up stall and despite several heavy downpours of rain and us sloshing around in wet clothing, overall we had a great day!
We raised £61.05 – and we also raised name awareness, with many people taking our details and trying out the samples of Finacard bedding! A lady who rehomed five guinea pigs from us six years ago came by to say ‘Hello’, which was nice and we gave out lots of promotional leaflets. All in all, a good day – despite being wet! A big "Thank You" to the organisations who donated goods to be used as part of this fund raising campaign Pascoes RAT RACE FUND RAISER – Well Done Colin! £190 Raised! Colin Dalglish from Glasgow ran in aid of CavyRescue in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday September 3rd. He completed the run in 1hr 50m 26s - that’s 9m 27s faster than last year. And he raised a fabulous £190 for the furries at the Rescue!
Colin and wife Karen have rats of their own who they are devoted to and wanted to do their bit by helping the rats and other furries here at CavyRescue. Colin says: “'I’d always quite fancied keeping rats (more intelligent and friendlier than hamsters), but it wasn't until we got married that I got a couple (Salt and Pepper). After a couple of days, Salt (little contortionist) managed to get out the cage by squeezing between the bars. Two days later, there was still no sign of her, and Pepper was looking a bit lonely, so we got another pair Saffy and Ginger to keep her company. The three were place introduced to each other on neutral territory (the empty bath) and while they were sniffing about and getting to know each other we heard a scrabbling noise from behind the pedastal for the sink in the bathroom, and out popped a rather grubby Salt. One quick wash later, and she was meeting her new cagemates, and back behind bars (which were now Salt-proofed with chicken wire). “From then on it was a slippery slope involving bigger cages (ferret cages have loads of room and space to climb) and more rats. “Apart from the rats mentioned above there's also been - Jade, Ruby, Pippa, Robbie, Reggie & Ronnie (rescue rats), Boris (a biter who no-one wanted, who eventually stopped biting people, but couldn't get on with other rats), and the current group of fuzzies, Pippin, Harpo, Piglet, Yin, Yang, and the latest (another rescue) Ben. Ben is another who doesn't seem to like other rats, so he has his own little penthouse, and gets out a lot to get handled. He's got a great wee personality and doesn't chew furniture, and seems to like watching TV !!!” A big thank you to Colin and Karen for their support! A big thank you to Anna Carroll from Tonbridge who stood out
in the rain earlier this month (September) selling off clothes
for us. She made £5.45 That’s enough to pay for bedding
for a week for all our residents! Thank you Anna! |
