Rat Rescue :: Charity gives access to specialist "small furry" insurance to help cover vets bills

Charity gives access to specialist "small furry" insurance to help cover vets bills

CavyRescue - the UK's first and only dedicated rodent rescue charity - now gives owners of 'small furries' (such as guinea pigs, rats, ferrets etc) access to a specialist small mammal insurance. This Small Mammal Vet Fee insurance helps cover the costs associated with a rat, rabbit, guinea pig, ferret and other small mammals’ health and welfare.

And for every animal policy sold, the charity will receive a donation.

Jason Hulott, co-founder of the charity, says: "We all know how expensive vets’ bills can be for our ‘small furries’. And although they may be smaller than a cat or dog, it does not mean that the vets’ bills reflect this!

"For example – to x-ray a rat or guinea pig can cost anything up to £80 – and that is without the consultation fee or any treatment needed; ongoing medications for a rat with respiratory disease will cost around £330 every year; and removal of a lump and all its associated costs can go well into hundreds of pounds.

"With this Vet Fee Insurance for small mammals - which can cost from as little as 22p a day – it means that you don’t have to worry anymore about setting aside money for those inevitable vets’ bills. And for every policy sold, CavyRescue will benefit, ensuring that we can continue our work with unwanted, abused and abandoned small furries well in to the future".

Free 30 day veterinary fee insurance is available to people rehoming a small furry from CavyRescue.
