Rodent rescue seeks homes for Bob, Ron and 100 other gerbils

CavyRescue - the Kent based rodent rescue - are asking gerbils lovers to step forward and give a home to some of their recent new arrivals. Along with several other rescues, they recently took in over one hundred gerbils from a house in Barking, Essex and now some are fit enough to find loving homes.

Stella Hulott, co-founder of CavyRescue, says: "These gerbils were rescued from appalling conditions and are now looking for genuine, caring homes in the Kent area. Many of the gerbils are too sick to rehome currently, and there are many pregnant females. However, we do have many lovely, friendly furries here desperate and ready for a great new home".

Among the gerbils - most of whom have stumpy tails, ripped ears and toes missing - who are ready to find new homes are:

  • Kerry, Geri and Terri - three young black females with stumpy tails to go together
  • Gary, Mark, Howard, Robbie and Jason - five cream males with pink eyes - to go as a group or as a two and a three
  • Bob and Ron - two young agouti males to go together
All are incredibly friendly and need good, secure homes and all potential new homes will be home checked.

Stella adds: "We hope that gerbil lovers in the area will be able to offer some of these sad and scruffy furries a new and happier life".

About CavyRescue:

CavyRescue (registered charity number 1111583) was set up in 1999 by husband and wife team Jason and Stella Hulott. They have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over 2,600 small furries (guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils), now specialising in rats. Their aim is to educate individuals and organisations on small animal healthcare and welfare and we regularly run successful campaigns to this effect.
