Teenage buffy fans help raise money for animal shelter
Kent teenager Sam Stopes will be spending two weeks shut in
her bedroom watching back-to-back videos of cult TV programme
“Buffy, The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” in a bid to raise money
for an animal shelter.
17 year old Sam and fellow Buffy and Angel fanatic, Alex Gregg
(19) from Suffolk, plan to spend 24 hours a day watching all
233 “Buffy” and “Angel” episodes and are looking for sponsors
to help raise money for CavyRescue. This Kent-based small animal
shelter rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes rats, guinea pigs,
rabbits and other ‘small furries’.
The girls have even set up a brilliant website - http://always.fluffyrat.net
- explaining more about the two-week event, which starts 11th
August.
Sam says: “Every year we do something different to raise money
for charity – my hair has only just grown back from when I had
it shaved off for a previous event! – and watching back-to-back
Buffy and Angel for two weeks will be a fun way of raising money
as well as our tribute to the cast and crew of both shows. We
live, breathe and dream of these shows so we can’t wait!
“We decided to help CavyRescue as they are completely self-funded.
We’ve seen the good work they do as well as the huge bills they
have to pay. My five rats were all rescue cases from there,
too, so helping CavyRescue was a natural choice”.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Sam and Alex can check out the details
on the marathon’s website, http://www.always.fluffyrat.net ,
or call CavyRescue on 07957 610666.

Angel was first shown in the UK in 1999. Both have attracted
a huge following worldwide, with fans waiting in suspense for
each new season. Sadly after dying three times, two romances
with vampires and a fabulous musical episode, Buffy is no more.
Creator Joss Whedon and the cast have agreed its time to close
the curtain on Buffy once and for all, to the sadness of many
fans. Angel however has been signed for another season with
the forth season ending this June that will leave UK fans gasping
for more. What will Joss Whedon and his team of talented writers
think up next for Angel? Fans will have to wait until February.
6. CavyRescue is based near Rochester and as well as rescuing
and rehoming small animals, their aim is to educate people on
animal healthcare and welfare. Supreme Petfoods are now in their
second year of sponsoring the www.cavyrescue.co.uk website.
CavyRescue is not a registered charity.
