Rat Rescue :: New Pet Rat House

Invest in a new home for your pet and benefit other ‘small furries’!

With World Rat Day on 4th April* just around the corner, pet rat owners are being urged to invest in a new property for their four legged friends – which will help a rat rescue at the same time!

To celebrate World Rat Day, small animal shelter CavyRescue are now selling luxury rat cages for those special ratlets in your life! This wonderfully designed three-storey home is designed to be robust and escape-roof as well as providing ratties with lots of space to run and play!

And, for every cage sold, CavyRescue will receive a £10 donation – which pays for the equivalent of two weeks’ supply of rat food or bedding.

Stella Hulott, co-founder of CavyRescue, says: “We are excited to be offering these wonderful new rat homes – they are very spacious with plenty of room to hang boredom-breaking tubes, hammocks and other accessories; are very durable; and, most importantly, are very safe and escape-proof!

“And, of course, every time someone invests in a new rat property, the rescue rats here will benefit, too.”

The cage – which is suitable for up to three medium sized rats - costs £62.50 including delivery and can be bought online at www.cavyrescue.co.uk

Editors’ Notes

* You can catch Stella and Jason Hulott from CavyRescue celebrating World Rat Day on 4th April on the ITV’s Paul O’Grady show. The aim for CavyRescue is to expend the negative image rats have with the general public.

• Cage details:
• The cage costs £62.50 including delivery anywhere in the UK mainland
• Dimensions: 42” (H) X 17” (W) x 27” (D). Weight 9.5 Kg.
• No plastic components used for maximum durability and self assembly, supplied in kit form.
• This cage has two doors as well as access through the top. The doors are at the vase level and on the opposite side on the second level. The doors open inwards and aperture sizes 11" x 6"
• Gross internal floor space is approximately 10 sq ft. This makes it ideal at giving adequate living space where room is at a premium.
• Cage supplied in affiliation with Stock Nutrition, suppliers of quality pet foods and accessories.

About CavyRescue

CavyRescue is the Kent-based small animal shelter and is run by Jason and Stella Hulott. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome ‘small furries’ – such as guinea pigs and rabbits – and their area of expertise is rats.

Their aim is to not only rescue ‘small furries’, but to educate people on animal healthcare and needs. The shelter is entirely self-funded and in its six years of operation has rehomed nearly 2,800 animals via the shelter; working with other independent rodent rescues; and its website.

About World Rat Day

April 4, 2005 will mark the third celebration of World Rat Day, a global celebration designed to recognise the fancy rat as a wonderful pet and companion animal for people of all ages. All true fans of the pet rat know that these dear, sweet animals deserve greater recognition and admiration, and that their image suffers from ignorance and unthinking prejudice. World Rat Day is a day to win back some respect to rats through positive promotion.
