Bodger
I am owned by `Bodger' amongst others, a lovely
mink missmarked hoodie rescue buck.
He came from Emma at Furry Friends last August and quickly became
a real personality. From having lived in a disgusting hamster
cage and his owners nearly killed him by bringing him to Emma
in a tupperware tub, with the lid on and no airholes! He was
soaked in condensation from his own breath she told me, he'd
just survived... He's also got a short tail, we think from a
fight...With us he progressed to his own large accomodation
and the run of the house, living upstairs with us rather than
in the rat room, as he doesn't like other males, and I only
kept males...until he came along. Well It was fine for a couple
of weeks, then he started to realise quite how big his territory
was, and that two random people lived in it as well, whom he
couldn't keep in line, let alone tell what to do.
The frustration of having to patrol the whole
house and knowing there were places he hadn't even seen where
other rats might live took it's toll, I've never had such an
agressive rat before, who would actively come after one to attack
one, on the arm, the leg, the ankle, like a snappy dog. So we
took him to the vet to have him neutered, and the difference
that made! He's now the soppiest rat you can imagine, a lovely
sweet temperament, although he still likes to whine , letting
out a pathetic squeal if he doesn't like something, especially
if you disturb him in his cuddle cup...And all was going so
nicely, when the ultimate betrayel happened, his humans produced
another rat!!!! Rosie had come to stay... Another rescue from
Furry Friends.
Bodger didn't know what to do. He knew she wasn't
a male he needed to attack, but other than that. And she ate
his food, took over his hut, even tried to sneek onto the cuddlecup
with him, it was sooooo unfair!
Lots of pathetic squeeking, that he still does to this day.
Well his comfortable batchelor lifestyle was over for good.
Not only that, he's become a long suffering, doe-pecked (!)
male, as Rosie goes for him regularly brandishing her back leg
up in the air like a kick boxer! But they get on very well,
share the cuddlecup, play and groom each other, although Bodger
still occasionally has that look in his eye, wondering what's
hit him...especially when Rosie decides to stash all the food
in the hut and then guards it, not letting him in...And how
is it that she's so agile and gets up her owners' legs really
fast, under their jumper and up to their face for kisses, whilst
he has to struggle and bounds up like a small elephant, only
to lose his grip...?
Anyway that's why I love Bodger, he's come such a long way,
and has given us such a lot of pleasure (after neutering!),
a great personality and so communicative, like a small human.
VOTING HAS NOW FINISHED!
