Gomez
This is my rat Gomez, he is a week away from his
first birthday and I got him and his two brothers (Spike and
Corvy) from FurryFriends Rescue. They had lived in a hamster
cage for 9 months with their other brother who was horribly
injured, and were living, eating and sleeping in thier own filth.
These series of photos sum Gomez up completely. He is one of
the worlds laziest rats, and will only wake for food or maybe
a scritch. This one particular occasion he fell asleep on his
back with his little feet in the air and would not wake for
anything, I tried tickling him, poking him, Corvy jumped on
him, Spike jumped on him and I even balanced a pea on his belly
- all to no avail. However after covering his belly with peas
he finally awoke, ate up all the peas and then promptly fell
alseep again!
Despite thier inhumane start to life these rats are really
fantastic, they run up to the cage door when I walk in the room
(if awake!) and they love licking yoghurt off my fingers, having
air blown in thier faces and falling asleep on my lap. The fact
that they have been through so much for so long and yet are
still are capable of trusting and loving humans makes me think
that Gomez and his brothers are rescue ratties of the year!
