Jessica
What a sad and traumatic start one family of baby rats had. They
were bought for a young boy whose over zealous handling caused
these poor girls extreme exhaustion, mutilation and even death.
Luckily, the vet involved managed to take those that survived
as they were bought to him and pass them to Cavy Rescue for rehabilitation
and rehoming.
On 24th September I fostered Jessica and Jasmine, 2 delightful
and excited girls. The only obvious sign of their awful past was
Jessica’s stump of a tail.
These really nice girls haven’t an ounce of aggression or fear
of people and have settled in really well. At the weekend I love
getting them out on my bed while I have a lay in reading a book.
Above the bed is a shelf, which by standing on my head Jasmine
can leap on to. Jessica sees this but can’t do the same herself
I assume her tail does hinder her somewhat, so she stands up and
bounces round in circles until I lay my hand flat, which she climbs
on and I lift her up to the shelf.
