Looby Loo and Bella
In August 2004 a 6/8 week old rat that had been bought from
a pet shop was taken to GBH rescue with her 6 babies. The poor
Mum was skinny and scared and when I saw them I just had to
foster them. Eventually when the 3 baby boys were old enough
they went to live at Cavy Rescue but the Mum, who I called Bella
and her 3 daughters stayed with me. They were all very nervous
but one baby was the leader, I called her Brave Bob (I didn't
know she was a girl at the time) she was always eager to come
out of the cage and Bella would follow wherever she went.
The 2 other girls I called Looby Loo, because she was really
silly and would spend ages just jumping up the wall until I
stopped her and Skippy because she would bound down the hall
like a kangaroo. Sadly they haven't been healthy rats.
Bella and Looby both had lumps removed at the end of last year,
Skippy suddenly became ill one day and and xray showed a huge
tumour on her chest, so she had to be put to sleep and precious
Brave Bob is battling with respiratory problems and is losing
weight.
Every day I tell her to get better as the thought of losing
her just makes me so sad.
