Campaign : Animals In Schools

At CavyRescue one of our aims is to educate people on the benefits of pet ownership. Sadly, we have recently had to rescue a few ratties stuck in a school where they were not getting attention, minimal food and next to no medical attention. They came in mite ridden , under nourished and unhandleable.

At the same time we receiveed the latest newsletter from PETA and they are running a campaign to keep animals out of the classroom. It couldn't have come at a better time.

So we are urging all site visitors to support their campaign and get writing.

Peta Europe wrote to the UK's Department of Education, urging it to ban animals in classrooms. Using animals as "learning tools" puts them at serious risk for both intentional and unintentional cruelty and neglect.

It also teaches children the wrong lessons - that animals are disposable props that can be abandoned and forgotten about over long weekends or school breaks.

Please tell the Department of Education to ban all animals in classrooms immediately.
